Limits that hold · goals that draw on real money

A budget that still means what you set

Set monthly limits by category and savings goals in the currency they were created in, and watch them fill. Goals are derived from the money you actually hold, so a balance can never claim to be reserved twice.

Budgets

A limit that does not loosen behind your back

A budget ceiling is stored with the currency you set it in. Type 5,000 while reporting in dirhams and it is 5,000 dirhams forever; switch your reporting currency to dollars and it does not silently become a 5,000-dollar limit, which would be a near-fourfold loosening applied to the one figure whose entire purpose is to be a limit.

  • The limit converts at today's rate; the spend measured against it converts at its own date. A limit is a present-tense intent, so it behaves like a balance. Freeze it at the day you typed it and a budget slowly stops meaning what you set.
  • Your reporting currency leads on the tile, with what you typed underneath. The opposite of an account row, deliberately, because a budget is a comparison, and spending is only ever available in one unit, so the ceiling has to come to it. The number you typed is still shown, or the budget stops looking like yours.
  • Carry-over is cycle-based. A quarterly budget carries once per quarter, not three times. A one-off budget never recurs and never carries.
  • Editing an existing budget keeps its own currency. The edit form rebuilds the budget from scratch, and without this every old ceiling would be re-denominated the first time you touched it.

Goals

A waterfall, not a set of envelopes

Most apps solve savings goals by moving money into a virtual envelope. NetWorth+ deliberately does not, because a stored envelope balance is a second version of the truth, and it becomes a lie the moment cash leaves the parent account without it knowing.

Instead, a goal stores only your intent: the target, the accounts that fund it, and the order. Every time you look, the allocation is re-derived from your live balances and cascades down the list. What is reserved and what is free always add up to what you actually hold, by construction.

  • Each account tells you what it owes to goals. Open an account and you can see how much of its balance is spoken for and how much is genuinely free.
  • A goal is denominated in what it is for. Resolved from the currency of its funding accounts when you create it, and stored, so re-linking an account later cannot quietly re-price a target you typed.
  • Net worth goals reserve nothing. They measure your total position rather than earmarking a balance, so they sit outside the waterfall.
  • A foreign goal will not nag you. Pace is converted before it is compared against your average monthly saving. A rupee target compared against a dirham saving rate makes every foreign goal look unreachable and fires an alert no amount of saving could clear, so when the rate is unknown, the card is skipped instead.

Staying with it

Motivation without the nagging

A finance app that shouts at you every morning gets muted. These are the rules that keep it useful.

Twenty badges

Across habits, saving, debt and social: from Ledger Keeper and Full Week through Dream Achieved, Budget Boss and Debt-Free. XP and level are always derived from what you have actually done, never stored as a number that could drift.

Badges you cannot fake

Date-sensitive badges advance only from server time. Re-dating your phone does not move it, and a forged timezone falls outside the window. Leap of Faith really does need 29 February.

Five cards, maximum

At most three warnings and two advisory cards, one per kind. A new insight can never re-create a wall of notifications, because generating a card and showing one are separate decisions.

A real warning stays put

Warnings do not rotate while they are true. Advisory cards rotate every three days; a card that changes every morning reads as churn and gives nobody a reason to act on any particular one.

Dismiss means dismissed

Closing a card leaves an empty slot until the next window rather than instantly promoting the next one. That endless-queue behaviour is the single most complained-about pattern in finance apps.

Reminders that work offline

Bill reminders, budget alerts and digests are scheduled on the device, so they arrive with no connection. Only social notifications need the network, because they are about someone else.

Recurring

The predictable parts, handled

Salary, rent, subscriptions, insurance and loan instalments are set up once and generated ahead of time. Every generated occurrence arrives as a pending row you confirm or dismiss, so generation can never move a balance on its own.

  • A template that already posted is its own first occurrence, so generation starts from the following cycle rather than billing you twice on day one.
  • A schedule-only template posts nothing, so its first date is a real instalment and is generated.
  • Paused and completed schedules stay visible in Scheduled Activity rather than vanishing; a completed loan schedule is retired precisely so you can still see it and remove it yourself.
  • A scheduled transfer whose two accounts are in different currencies is skipped rather than approximated. An automatically generated bill for the wrong amount is worse than no bill, because it sits in your Inbox looking authoritative.

Questions

Good to know

What happens to my budget if I switch reporting currency?
Nothing loosens. Each ceiling keeps the currency it was set in, and is converted for display at today's rate. The tile shows your reporting currency first, with the figure you originally typed underneath.
Can I have goals in different currencies at the same time?
Yes. Each goal is denominated in the currency of the accounts funding it, resolved when you create it. A house you are saving for in rupees keeps a rupee target while the pool it draws from can be in something else entirely; the conversion happens at the moment each goal draws, using one rate in both directions so nothing drifts into the unallocated remainder.
Why is money not actually moved into a savings goal?
Because then there would be two versions of the truth. A stored envelope stops matching reality the moment cash leaves the parent account without it knowing. Deriving the allocation from live balances means what is reserved and what is free always add up to what you really hold.
Can I turn the badges and tips off?
Every insight and tip card is dismissible, and dismissing a tip retires it permanently rather than putting it back in the rotation. Notification categories are individually controllable in settings.
